The International Metallographic Societys mission
is to benefit
the art and science of metallography and materials characterization.
IMS members are involved in material characterization,
performance, behavior and fabrication. Of special interest to
members are techniques and the equipment needed for
microstructural examination, analysis and evaluation. Some
techniques of interest include light, electron and acoustical
microscopy; quantitative/computer-aided microstructural
analysis; metallography, ceramography, resinography; and
allied sciences for physical and chemical analysis.
The membership encompasses students, technicians, engineers,
scientists, consultants and teachers. IMS members represent
a broad range of employers including automotive, aerospace,
nuclear, electronic, transportation and defense industries. Many
members are associated with universities and national laboratories.
An important segment of our membership is represented by
personnel from suppliers and manufacturers of laboratory
equipment, and related services.
Anybody interested in material properties and characterization is
encouraged to join and participate in the IMS activities. |
